Project Process!

Project for the team are chosen based on the following criteria:

  • The work must be a repair or a critical need, not cosmetic (Example: Handicap Ramp)
  • The work must be safe for volunteers to perform
  • The homeowner must have a demonstrated financial need and commitment to taking control of the overall problem.
  • Ultimately projects must be accepted or rejected by the HRM leadership team
If a project is chosen for Home Repairs the first step is a site visit to scope out the repair. It is at this point that we determine if the project should be referred to a professional, which repairs will be done by the team, and if the project requires a project manager.

A project manager is then assigned to the project and a date for the work is chosen by the PM. If necessary funding will be secured for the project.

Once a date is chosen, the Project Manager will obtain a list of skill matched volunteers from the Home Repairs database and begin assembling a team to conduct the work.

On the day of the project, the Project Manager will coordinate work effort and cleanup afterwards. If additional repairs are needed, a follow-up workday is scheduled.
